Cofounder and Director
"Hou" - CHHIT Chanphireak
“I make theatre with and for people who are in situations that I was in myself before I started doing theatre. I was living in poverty, using drugs, thinking in a really short-term way, lacking a conscious awareness about the situation I was in, and not using my potential. Theatre can be something which lets us see ourselves, and then we can decide whether or not we want to change.”
Hou is the Artistic and Executive Director of LKO. He directs plays, writes scripts, leads programs, facilitates workshops and is a skilled Forum Theatre “Joker”. He has over 20 years experience working with theatre, and counts his experiences working with Théâtre du Soleil as a life-changing opportunity, which influences how he thinks about the power of theatre and the importance of guiding untrained actors to be powerful performers.
Hou holds a Certificate in Peace and Conflict from the ForumZFD Academy for Conflict Transformation, 2024.

Program Officer
CHEN Srey Sor
"Growing up in a family affected by conflict, I came to understand the pain of silence and the weight of unheard voices. These early experiences shaped my passion for healing, expression, and community change and ultimately led me to Lakhon Komnit, a place that values every voice and transforms struggle into peace. I believe that when we listen deeply and act with care, we can turn even the hardest stories into hope, and that’s the work I’m honored to do every day."
Sreysor brings a blend of creative talent, community development expertise, and social work experience to her role at LKO. Her journey with theatre began at age ten, when she participated in a workshop Hou was leading at Children's Future International (CFI). This early spark led to a lifelong connection with the arts as a tool for social impact.
While studying Community Development at university and serving as a social worker at CFI, Sreysor reconnected with Lakhon Komnit to perform a lead role in a USAID-funded collaboration focused on family-based care. Today, she uses her multi-disciplinary background to strengthen LKO’s programs, with a particular focus on innovating offerings for young people facing hardship and adversity.

Finance Officer
SEA Theara
“I believe that transparency and strong foundations are what allow an organization to truly serve its community. Being raised in Battambang, I have always wanted to use my skills to support my province. At Lakhon Komnit, I am proud to ensure our resources are managed with the highest accountability, so that our team can focus on what they do best: creating change through theatre.”
Theara is a Battambang native with over a decade of experience in the civil society sector. Before joining Lakhon Komnit, she managed finances for large-scale projects with multiple international organizations. With a degree in Accounting and Finance and a deep understanding of local and international standards, Theara ensures that LKO’s resources are handled with care and transparency.
